Helen joins Kelly at Felpham Dental

We would like to welcome Helen Carter to Felpham Dental!

Helen joins  Kelly as part of your  designated hygiene care team. Thank you for making her feel so welcome.

With our two new hygienists , we are able to offer more appointments with less waiting time for you.  Helen qualified from the Leeds Dental Institute in 1999  and has been working  locally in Chichester and Horsham. She lives in  Bognor Regis and is really looking forward to meeting our patients. Her hobbies are walking her dog, body surfing and cooking.

The hygiene team  are here to help prevent and treat   periodontal (gum) disease. The simplest form of gum disease is often a reaction to a build up of plaque on the teeth. Plaque is a soft, sticky substance made up of bacteria which live on all those sugars that we eat. The hygienist can work with you to help remove this damaging attack on your teeth. The earliest sign of disease is often bleeding gums or spitting blood when you brush your teeth. If this is not treated, eventually the gum recedes and the teeth loosen and fall out. This is why we recommend that you have a hygiene treatment every  six months to keep your gums and teeth healthy. The  hygienist can also help you with removing tartar and bad stains , polishing and whitening of your teeth. There are some people who are more likely to get gum disease such as people with crooked teeth, diabetics, people with extensive restorations and pregnancy. Please talk to the hygiene team Helen and Kelly , if you are worried .
