Patient Journey

As a result of the Covid 19 pandemic, we have made some important changes  to ensure that your safety and that of the dental staff is maintained. Your next visit to Felpham Dental will feel different from before, so the following information should hopefully answer many of your questions.

Please be assured though that we will continue to provide dental treatment for you as safely and carefully as before.

You will not be able to attend the practice if you have any Covid-19 symptoms or are self-isolating under the current government guidelines.

Before your appointment
You will be contacted by a member of the dental team to confirm that you are fit and able to attend the practice for the scheduled appointment.

You will be asked also how you plan to attend the practice whether by car, bus, taxi or on foot. This will help us plan your visit.

You must complete the Consent to treatment during  Covid-19 questionnaire (Click here) and email this to info@felphamdental.com before your appointment. This will be emailed to you before your visit or download the form at www.felphamdental.com

During your visit you will also be asked to update your medical history – so please bring  your medications list  with you.

On the day of your appointment
Please ensure that you have been to the lavatory, are well hydrated and have brushed your teeth. Avoid bringing unnecessary items to the practice such as  coats , bags, wallets, purses or mobile phones.

Please attend the practice as near to the planned time as possible.

If attending by car, let the receptionist know that you have arrived by phoning the practice, then return to the car and wait to be called in.

If coming by other means such as a taxi, again let the receptionist know that you have arrived by mobile phone or ring the doorbell. Do not enter. The receptionist will then instruct you what to do.

Please enter the practice alone.

On entering the practice please use the hand sanitiser provided and avoid touching things as much as possible.  We will ask you to wear a mask if you have not brought one with you, and gloves. Your temperature will also be checked.

You will be guided to the surgery by the nurse, and treatment carried out as agreed with your dental surgeon or hygienist.

Depending upon the procedure undertaken, you will be asked to pay in advance and make further appointments by phone. This will limit contact at the reception desk in line with social distancing. Please be aware that the receptionist will be behind a plastic screen.

On completion of the appointment you will be accompanied to the exit by the nurse. Please re-sanitise your hands and leave the practice as soon as possible.

If you have any questions please contact reception on 01243 864663.

In the surgery
The dentist and nurse will already be wearing the appropriate PPE so you may not be able to see the faces as usual.

Please be assured we will be your same friendly team. Any items you bring with you will need be left outside the surgery, this includes wallets, purses and mobile phones.

We will ask you to use mouthwash before treatment starts.

Treatment will be performed in as gentle a way as you are used to. For your safety we have installed high volume suction appliances and air filtration units.

On leaving the surgery, you will be guided to the exit by the nurse.

If you develop any symptoms of Covid-19 within 14 days of your treatment, it is important you let us know.

We hope the above answers your questions as to how your treatment may slightly from before. These changes have been made to protect all of us and ensure that we can continue to practice safe dentistry.
